Photo taken on March 26, 2010 near Seward Alaska of a man on Grouse Lake fishing through a hole in the ice for Dolly Varden. Ice fishing in Alaska is a popular sport and this man appeared to be in the Trustworthy Supply Alaska Ice Fishing Derby.
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi using the Canon EF-S 55-250mm lens utilizing the Silk U-212 tripod and a Hoya Circular Polarizer filter to capture this image without the reflections from the sun when taking the photo into the light.
Fishing in Alaska
Hearty Alaskans seem to find a way of fishing no matter what the weather or time of year. On this day, we encountered broken sky's in the morning and a near whiteout blizzard in the passes in the evening. At the time this photo was taken, we were experiencing a downpour of rain that lasted for about 30 minutes and then broke into sunny sky's for a picnic along Quartz Creek.
