The Aspen Suites Hotel in Kenai Alaska. The newest of all the places to stay in Kenai is located behind the McDonalds off the main Kenai Spur Highway as it passes through town. The Aspen Extended Stay Suites hotel in Kenai is affordable, our check for a July stay ran between $139.00 and $159.00 for the night. Winter rates were much more reasonable, we paid just $69.00 per night for two of us. The room was small but this seems to be the norm in these smaller towns throughout Alaska.
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi, EF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS Lens
Photo takes with the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi using the EF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS Lens with the Hoya 72mm Circular Polarizer (HMC) Filter. We really like the new Rebel XSi for outdoor photography on a budget. At a retail price of $649.99, it makes one excellent camera for anyone, beginner to pro looking for a APS-C size camera to take along on an Alaskan vacation. The standard EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens is a good workhorse but we prefer to exchange it for a combo of the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM and the EF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS. Remembering the effects of the 1.6 crop factor, these lenses become quite appropriate for most outdoor imagery without adding a lot of weight. Yes a good telephoto would be great to have along too. It just depends upon how much weight you care to pack around.
