Someday,
you may find yourself telling your grandchildren stories of places like
these when you were last in Alaska. In just the short time that man has
inhabited the earth, the peaceful harmony that made up this land has greatly
been changed forever. Lands as found where nature once ruled are becoming
harder to find as they are consumed and fritter away. The delicate habitats
that support the wildlife we had come to enjoy is being devoured and replaced
by big business and short term economic gains.
There is still time, but don't hesitate to long; Alaska is not unlike other areas where the time is getting short to catalog the history of a state in transition. Large industry, mining, oil and gas, commercial fishing and tourism are all taking a toll on the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska.
Please take a moment to check out the information located in the resources section of this site to see some of the current battles being waged to protect your legacy of “a wild and pristine Alaska” before it all disappears.

Moving on: After another of those famous long and dark Alaskan winters,
the decision to relocate back to the lower 48 states as it's referred
to here in Alaska has become a reality to us too. We will be the last
of our family to make the journey back to the warmer and brighter weather
of the states. From 2000 to 2002 we had moved down to Anacortes WA and
loved every minute of it. Clean, vibrant and happy with more areas to
photograph then there's room for on the media cards in our bags. This
should open up an entirely new dimension to our creative sides and will
definitely offer far more useable light for framing our next subjects.
Alaska is a great place to visit and photography and for many a great place to live. We have just found that we were not one of the later and our needs for a more diverse and robust culture like that offered in the states was far more important to us then we had previously known.
So for now it's off to look at homes and offices in Washington, Oregon,
Idaho, and Montana to find our next locations to explore and share: hope
to see you there.
